Types of Hajj

Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam. It is a journey in which a Muslims get rid of his sins and Allah bless him and forgive him for his past sinful deeds. The blessing and rewards for performing Hajj are limitless and when the pilgrims goes to Makkah and Madinah for this holy obligation he or she is guest of Allah Almighty. It is mandatory for those Muslim to perform it who possess the wealth and physical fitness to do it at least once in their life. While planning to go for Hajj the people look for Hajj Packages.

There are sets of compulsory rituals to be performed during the Hajj and can be searched to avail them. But the basics Manasik Hajj (Ritual) remain the sames in order to complete the Hajj. Hajj can be categorized in to three types with the variations of rites to be done during Hajj that are as follows:

1-Hajj al-Ifrad

2-· Hajj al-Qiran

3- Hajj al-Tamattu'

Hajjal-Ifrad

The meaning of ‘Ifrad’ is “isolation” and the person performing it known as “Mufrid”. In this category Mufrid enter to the holy place in state of Ihram at meeqat with intention to only perform the Hajj. Here he or she do not perform Umrah.

The pilgrim remain in the state of Ihram until he fullfil all the rituals of hajj until the last Tawaf known as Tawaf-e –Wida and here the sacrifice of animal is not obligatory.

Hajj al Qiran

The word Qiran means “Conjuring” . In this pilgrim enter the holy place in Ihram at meeqat with the intention of offering both Hajj and Umrah. The pilgrim is not allowed to finish the state of Ihram after performing first step he has to be in that state until all the rituals of both Hajj and Umrah have been performed.

Hajj al Tamattu

The word Tamattu refers to “to ease and comfort”. This one is the easiest and most adopted way to perform Hajj. In this pilgrim can wear separate Ihram for Hajj and Umrah. The person doing Hajj al tamattu is called as “Mutamatti”.

In this pilgrim goes to the holy place in state of Ihram in Meeqat with the intention to do Umrah.After this Mutamatti performs Tawaf and prays two rakhat at Mukam -e-Ibrahim, drinks zam zam and afterward sai’s and then cut the hairs like this the Umrah is completed and he can come out from the state of Ihram and can wear everyday cloth. Then on 8th of Dhu al-Hijjah the Mutamatti again wear the ihram with the intention to perform Hajj, the pilgrim then perform all rituals in order to complete his Hajj and the sacrifice of animal is mandatory in Hajjal Tamattu.

The pilgrim who leaves for Hajj before Tarwiyah (8 Dhual –Hijjah) , the Hajj al Tamattu is best option for them to do while who arrives at makkah close to Tarwiyah they can perform Hajj al Ifrad or Qiran. These three ways are the most acceptable in Islam it’s just the matter of time, personal choice and convenience.
